13th Annual St Peter Turkey Trot 2024 Overview
The holidays are coming once again! We invite you to join St Peter Lutheran School and Dig Deep Race Events for the 13th Annual running of the St Peter Turkey Trot on a flat, country road course in Hemlock to prepare you for the feasting that is to come!
Age group awards are back! And there is a big change this year for the venue as St Peter Lutheran School showcases it’s new outdoor sports facility!
The Turkey Trot consists of USATF Sanctioned 10k and 5k races that originated as a way to encourage student participation in Kids on the Run. Already successful in its own right, the event blossomed with the addition of a 10k course and local sponsors the likes of Jacques Orchard, Hemlock SemiConductor, ATS Printing, Swanhaven Manor, Fullerton Tool Company and Endurance Carbide coming on to help make this a community event.
Caramel Apples for the kids from Jacques Orchard are part of the post race goodies, as well as string cheese, strawberry goggurt, and chocolate and white milk courtesy of the United Dairy Industry of MI. Awesome T-Shirts, custom finisher medals, FREE online finisher photos, and professional timing are also included! And get this! Overall 5k and 10k male and female winners receive turkeys! Youth overall male and female winners of the 5k and 10k receive apple pies.
And of course… the drawing for the coveted Chandler’s Gift Baskets courtesy of Hemlock SemiConductor!
All proceeds from this event will benefit the students at St Peter Lutheran School, a 501c3 charitable organization.

Course Description:
This is an out and back run on FLAT roads that are mostly paved. Those running the 10k will get some hard-packed gravel road for a stretch. Both the 5k and 10k routes begin in front of St Peter Lutheran School and head north along Raucholz Rd. The 5k turns around at the corner of Raucholz and Pangborn Rd, while the 10k turns right on Pangborn and proceeds to N Fordney Rd before turning around and heading back. Both routes will turn right on Lunney Rd in front of St Peter Lutheran School before turning into the parking lot of St Peter Lutheran Church and ending with a sprint to the finish line.

NOTE: ItsYourRace (the online registration platform) charges a nominal fee to participants when registering. We just don’t want you to be surprised when you go to register online! Online Registration closes Friday, November 1st at Noon. All registrations after that will be on-site during packet pickup hours and will incur an additional $5 processing fee
T-Shirts
Registration WITH T-shirts ends at Midnight on Sunday, October 27th! These shirts will be high quality and will be available in unisex, ladies cut, or youth sizes. Those who register after the cutoff date MAY be able to purchase a t-shirt during packet pickup if extras are received by the event. No promises though!

REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICY
We completely understand that plans change and athletes will sometimes be unable to compete in an event they've signed up for. We also understand that registering for one of our events is a financial investment in that race. We accept your registration funds with the full intention of putting on the promised event with the listed amenities and we use your registration funds to pay for the necessary items and services needed to host the event. With that in mind, refunds will not be provided for this event unless the event is cancelled for reasons within our control. The following are examples (but not limited to) of reasons an event might be canceled that are NOT within our control: Dangerous weather; natural disasters; pandemics; acts of terrorism; local emergencies; government mandates; and any situation creating a threat to safety of participants, volunteers, staff or bystanders.
Should a registrant have an injury or other medical issue keeping them from competing in an event they've registered for, we would be happy to transfer their registration to a similar Dig Deep-owned event up to and including the same event the following season. A doctor's slip may be required as proof of injury or ailment. Failure to provide proof if requested will result in non-transfer of the event.
Transferring registrations to other runners/athletes is NOT allowed.
FAQ’s
Can I run/walk with a stroller?
Baby joggers are allowed on both the 10k and 5k course, though we ask that participants remain to the rear of the pack at start and remain considerate of other participants. Regular strollers may be used for the 5k run/walk, but again we would ask that participants pushing strollers remain to the rear of the pack at start of the race.
What does “USATF Sanctioning” mean?
It means that organizers have followed a process with USA Track & Field that requires creation of a safety plan and purchase of outstanding insurance covering participants, volunteers, sponsors, partners and organizers of the event. It also means that your race results will be official for scoring purposes (assuming you track that sort of thing).
What happens if the event is cancelled? Will I receive a refund?
If the race is cancelled for reasons Organizers can control then we will work diligently to provide a refund or transfer of registration to another event. However, cancellation due to government regulations, extreme weather or local emergency is not controlled by organizers and is not reason for reimbursement. We WILL however, attempt to push start of the race back in 30-minute increments until the emergency dissipates and it is deemed safe to race. Please read Refund and Transfer Policy above.
